"GOOD STOPPED PLAYING NICE" SHIRTS AT OWL N WOOD

By Tony Cruz, Do-Gooder Co-Founder

When you first came into our lives last year, you left a lasting impression right away. Like…you kind of stunk. Sorry baby, but you did. Right out of the box you smelled, and being new to this, I didn't understand. I knew I was supposed to love you because you were so beautiful (which I know every owner says about his little t-shirt) but I wasn't feeling it because you stank little baby. Michelle said it was the sulfur and that all we needed to do was wash you up and give you a good bath. And you know what? She was right. We washed you and we made you presentable to the world because ultimately, you weren't meant to stay with us forever. You were born to spread the message of  "Good Stopped Playing Nice". It was branded on your chest. And your message will be seen around the world to help those in need like our friends in Ecuador who need clean water.

DO-GOODER SUPPORTS FAIR GIRLS IN FIGHTING CHILD TRAFFICKING

By Jon Meyer, Do-Gooder Co-Founder

Do-Gooder is very happy to announce our new campaign against the U.S. child sex slave trade with our partner and beneficiary FAIR Girls.

This campaign has been months in the process of researching facts, causes, and solutions to help save children between the ages of 12 and 17 from prostitution and pornography. However, the best part of this campaign is that FAIR Girls and it’s partners have access to high quality curriculum to educate teachers, law enforcement, and school children on prevention and signs of children in the sex slave trade.

MATT DAMON'S BITCHES

By Tony Cruz, Co-Founder of Do-Gooder

Last year, on a windy day in Mill Valley, CA, the Do-Gooder team braved the winter cold and worked ....well...with some real bitches: Matt Damon's bitches. They were feisty. They were running all over the place, and they were demanding. And their biggest demand: clean water. And then we thought about our friends in Ecuador who don't have clean water and we said "Hey, if Matt Damon's bitches can get clean water, shouldn't everyone?" Of course they should.

KARI JENNINGS: DOING GOOD THROUGH SOCIAL WORK

KARI JENNINGS: DOING GOOD THROUGH SOCIAL WORK

We come across amazing people doing amazing things all the time. We thought we’d start sharing their stories and the incredible work they do since they define what it means to be a do-gooder. So here’s Kari Jennings’ personal story of what it’s like to be a social worker helping people with mental illness.

By Kari Jennings, Social Worker

My name is Kari Jennings. I received my BSW from SUNY Albany in 2000 and MSW from Cal State East Bay in 2009. I am currently completing the hours necessary to be eligible to get my LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker). I have been working in community mental health since 2002. I am drawn to working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness. Our work together consists of supporting the adults to function as active participants in their communities and to manage their symptoms so that they can have a fulfilling life, as defined by the client. We work together to identify goals and interests that lead the client to finding daily activities such as school, work, volunteering or being involved in projects that interest them. My work comes from a strength-based perspective and I strive to empower all the adults I work with to find their strengths and a positive sense of self.

GO GIVE 100 AND THANKS

By Jon Meyer, Co-Founder of Do-Gooder

There couldn’t be a more perfect time to write this post than the day before Thanksgiving. No, I’m not going to do the trite blog entry that assumes you have friends, family, and a giant meal ahead of you and make you feel guilty about it. Does it say Debbie Downer in the by-line? Hell no. But I am going to dig into what Do-Gooder is thankful for in the month since our official launch.

CLEARWATER: FOCUSING ON SOLUTIONS

Water is life's matter and matrix, mother and medium. There is no life without water. Today, the availability of clean drinking water is a critical problem across the world. In fact, it is perhaps the most critical issue of our lifetime and the fact that people are living without clean water is something that we all need to be concerned about. Someday, in the not so far off future, that person living without water just might be you.
